Henry Giroux: Where is the Outrage? 

I found Henry´s arguments very nestable in the political and academic reality we are living in our country. Colombia´s education system, as many others around the world, is shaped towards the competitive hope. That constrains students not to see each other as colleagues and co-workers but as the one to be defeat. But broader forces alien to academic institutions are creating this phenomenon which shapes democracy in a mistaken way using education for that purpose. 

As Henry quotes, "The most important forms of domination are not only economic but intellectual and pedagogical". This kind of domination eliminates the pleasure of learning: instead, it creates division and a feeling of fear of sharing responsibilities, trusts itself.

However, power needs to be out so we can be aware of how big, how powerful institutions are and from that term, to start interrelating pedagogy and government in order to fight individualization of society. Young people have the most fundamental role in defeating a competitive lifestyle and creating a more cooperative and democratic society.
